Marathon’s v-Available™ initiative – the first of its kind - brings
fault tolerant-class availability to virtual environments.
|
|

Marathon launched the v-Available initiative to fill
a big gap left by today’s high availability offerings for
virtual servers. Virtualization brings many benefits
– but it also dramatically increases the need for rock-solid
availability. Why? Because server consolidation can result
in the server becoming the single point of failure for multiple
applications, so the implications of downtime are much greater.
v-Available is aimed at exploiting a lack of effective availability
technology for virtual environments. It is the launching
pad for the industry’s first solutions that will provide
companies with reliable protection for critical virtual
workloads.

"Although consolidation and legacy migration
have been the primary motives for server virtualization, going forward
we see high availability and disaster recovery for business resiliency
as key reasons why organizations will deploy virtualization software.
There is huge market appeal for technology providers that can deliver
solutions that can address both planned and unplanned downtime in
virtual environments – especially for mid-market and smaller companies."
- John Humphreys,
Program Director of IDC's Enterprise Virtualization program
