Swiss Specialty Chemical Company van Baerle Selects everRun® to Protect IT Infrastructure from Downtime
THE COMPANY
van Baerle offers modern, contemporary and comprehensive systems for tableware, kitchen, hand, and textile hygiene. Areas where its technology is used include hotels, catering, hospitals, nursing homes and the food industry.
The silicates the company produces are used for products such as additives for detergent manufacturers, construction industry and the textile industry; for cleaning supplies, fire resistant building materials, additives for welding, plastering and paints, as well as paper recycling and for water treatment.
THE SITUATION
In line with a realignment of the IT infrastructure, a second data centre had to be installed in addition to its existing facility. Minimal downtime of mission critical systems (Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL-Server, Microsoft Navision ERP System) was required.
van Baerle's previous VMware solution did not provide the reliability required by the company for their critical manufacturing and business applications.
THE SOLUTION
The existing environment was migrated in a minimal timeframe to Marathon's everRun® VM for Citrix Xenserver. The system, based on 2 HP DL-380 G6 servers has been in use since March 2010.
The entire design and installation was completed by Delta Energy Solution AG, Basel, Germany. Delta Energy Solution's expertise in high availability for complex industries, coupled with their technical knowledge of Marathon Technologies products, ensured a smooth integration with the existing it infrastructure.

THE RESULTS
Marathon's everRun application availability software protects van Baerle's production and logistics systems from interruptions at all times. For manufacturers, even a minute of downtime can spoil products, ruin schedules, impact earnings and compromise safety. everRun provides complete, automated virtual availability and offers the flexibility to select the level of availability that is needed for each virtual machine..
