Marathon Technologies Recognized as Laureate by the Computerworld Honors Program for Bringing Fault-Tolerant, High Availability Software to Server Virtualization
Global Information Technology Awards Foundation Pays Tribute to Marathon’s Innovative everRun VM Software that Simplifies High Availability and Disaster Recovery
Littleton, Mass. — April 08, 2008 — Marathon Technologies Corporation, the only provider of fault-tolerant, high availability software for physical and virtual servers, announced today that it has been selected as a 2008 Laureate by IDG’s Computerworld Honors Program. Marathon was awarded the distinction for developing new software, everRun VM, which addresses one of the factors that has held back broader adoption of server virtualization - a lack of simple and effective high availability technology for virtual environments.
This year's Honorees will be commemorated during the 20th Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards Evening on June 2, 2008 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington D.C. For two decades, Computerworld Honors has acknowledged those individuals and organizations that have used information technology to benefit society.
"The Computerworld Honors Program seeks to recognize organizations whose use of information technology is especially innovative and offers the possibility to positively affect the use of technology in society," said Gary Phillips, president and CEO of Marathon Technologies. “We are honored that our vision of making high availability and disaster recovery products that are so simple and effective that every application can now be protected, is being recognized for its potentially broad impact on the information technology market.”
The Computerworld Honors Program unites Chairmen and CEOs of the world's foremost information technology companies to recognize the most outstanding user achievements in technology each year. The technology achievements honored by this program are preserved and protected in national archives, and in over 350 universities, museums, and research institutions throughout the world.
Each year, members of the Chairmen's Committee, a group of 100 Chairmen/CEOs of global technology companies, nominates individuals and organizations around the world whose visionary applications of information technology promotes positive social and economic progress.
"Each year, the Computerworld Honors Program seeks to recognize organizations, from a variety of sectors, for their ongoing efforts to utilize technology in order to benefit society," said Ron Milton, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Computerworld Information Technology Awards Foundation and Executive Vice President of Computerworld. "We are proud to provide a platform to publicly acknowledge these contributions."
