CIO.com Names Marathon Technologies in Ten Virtualization Companies to Watch in 2009

“Marathon continues to stay near the top of many virtualization users' list of favorites by adding fault tolerance, high availability and disaster recovery capabilities”- CIO.com

Littleton, Mass. — February 4, 2009Marathon Technologies, the only provider of fault-tolerant, high availability software for physical and virtual servers, announced today that it has been selected - for the second consecutive year - as one of the Ten Virtualization Vendors to Watch in 2009 by CIO, a leading IT publication. The annual list from CIO.com selects the best and brightest innovators in virtualization management, configuration and monitoring tools including security and backup. According to CIO, if your organization is deploying virtualization, Marathon’s automated high availability and disaster recovery software, “deserves your attention” for its ability to deliver fault-tolerant protection that prevents application downtime and data loss in virtual environments.

In the Jan. 29 announcement, CIO’s Kevin Fogarty wrote, “Marathon continues to stay near the top of many virtualization users' list of favorites by adding fault tolerance, high-availability and disaster-recovery capabilities to infrastructures that were supposed to eliminate many of those risks just by their very nature.”

everRun VM is the world’s first fully automated, fault-tolerant, high availability software for server virtualization. everRun VM enables companies to:

  • Prevent outages and data loss in their virtual infrastructures
  • Bring server virtualization’s cost and energy saving benefits to business critical and other production applications
  • Deploy high availability and disaster recovery protection across the company – especially mid-market companies with no protection today

“We are honored to have been selected by CIO as a virtualization vendor to watch two years in a row,” said Gary Phillips, president and CEO of Marathon Technologies. “Despite the cuts in overall IT spending, companies are continuing to invest in server virtualization because of its bottom-line benefits. By enabling companies of all sizes to confidently virtualize a much broader range of applications, we’re helping them get a greater return on their investment in virtualization.”

In the past 18 months, Marathon has been recognized by more than a dozen major virtualization accolades including “Best of VMworld 2007- New Technology.” Most recently, everRun VM was selected by SearchServerVirtualization.com as one of the “2008 Products of the Year” in the data protection category.
