Senior Linux Kernel Development Engineer

Senior team member working on kernel mode design and development for fault tolerant, high availability, and disaster recovery products, based on hypervisor virtualization technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to Xen hypervisor based development and design of fault tolerant systems
  • Enhance the Linux kernel and OS and Xen hypervisor to add advanced features
  • Contribute to tracking, making recommendations, and integrating development with the Xen/Linux Open Source community
  • Provide Linux and Open Source technical expertise and consulting across the engineering organization.
  • Engage in complex problem debugging in a virtualized environment

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of Open Source development and best practices
  • Experience interacting with the Open Source community is a plus
  • Strong background in Linux Kernel and Operating System Architecture
  • Strong background in Linux networking and TCP/IP stack
  • Good design and coding skills in kernel implementation and debugging
  • Familiarity with Linux run-time environment and libraries
  • Ability and willingness to help organization ramp-up Linux/OSS knowledge
  • Exposure to hypervisors (Xen, VMware, MS virtualization) a major plus
  • Knowledge of python, bash, and/or perl a plus
  • Knowledge in some of the following: storage systems, SMP, process management, virtual memory, I/O subsystem, security, performance analysis, file systems, resource management, boot sequence, driver load mechanisms, Linux configuration internals
  • Fluency in C and familiarity with x86 assembly code is desirable
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience with code management and bug tracking tools
  • BSCS degree or equivalent, and minimum 4 years directly related experience

Business Development Manager – Health Care

The Business Development Manager for Health care will be responsible for Marathon Technologies’ long-term growth of the business in the Health Care sector. He/she will help set and implement global Business Development strategies, develop and manage the Company’s Alliance relationships with ISV’s (Independent Software Vendors) in the Health Care sector. These relationships involve getting the ISV to certify and market the everRun platform, as a qualified and endorsed platform for customers requiring high levels of availability. The job also involves rolling these relationships out into the market, in order to start growing the revenues from this. Details of what this entails depend on the specific ISV and the details of our relationship with them, which could vary from a Software Alliance Agreement to an OEM agreement, with several variations in between.

Specifically, the job will include the following activities and responsibilities:

  • Identify the key ISVs to approach and explore relationships with. Initiate contacts and start discussions with them in order to qualify them as possible partners and “sell” them on Marathon.
  • Get the ISV to qualify/certify everRun as an endorsed platform for customers needing high availability.
  • Manage the business relationship with ISVs  to develop solutions and a go-to-market strategies for Marathon products and services. This could be a joint marketing relationship (part of the Software Alliance Agreement), one of various flavors of Reseller/Distributor Agreements, or an OEM Agreement. Negotiate/close contracts, alliances and/or joint ventures.
  • Create a roll-out and go-to-market plan, to create awareness, demand, channels, relationships in all territories and thus revenues.

Individual

Marathon is looking for someone who has experience dealing with Health Care institutions’ critical software applications, especially Acute Care Systems and Administrative/Financial systems, and who is now interested in working for a software company which wants to develop business relationships with the companies marketing those critical software applications. Someone with a technical background, who has recently completed an MBA degreewho has a good balance of Healthcare Industry knowledge, sales acumen and technology competance, would be of great interest.

Education

A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally with a technical focus. MBA degree with background in technology preferred

Experience

This will be a fast-paced, high visibility role focused on delivering new revenue generating relationships. The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding of applications requiring continuous availability in Acute Care and Health Care administrative/Financial sectors, and qualifications for developing relationships and bringing joint solutions to market.

Relocation is not available for this position.   Preferred location is in our headquarters in Littleton, MA
